Pittsburgh, Day 1

Another thing we did over this break was go to Pittsburgh. It was A LOT of fun!!! The first day we got there we headed straight to IKEA!! (Let's be honest, this is the real reason we were going, everything else was secondary.) While at Ikea, Macie got to play in the kid playzone. She thought that this was the best thing ever and now asks if every store we go to has a ball pit. After Ikea we headed to our hotel. (We went with some friends so we were sharing a hotel room that had an upstairs and a downstairs. It was way more fun this way because we could put the kids to bed and still play games!) Our hotel had an outdoor pool and it was a Beautiful day, so we took advantage, skipped naptime, and went swimming!!! It was sooo fun! The girls loved it and so did we.
This is the girls right before we left! Can you tell how excited they are!?Geoff and Addie swimmingMacie was having a blast, she just did not want her picture taken (like always!)Me and Addie, she was getting very tired and almost fell asleep 3 times before we got out of the pool. Here is Macie just lounging. She thought that she was pretty cool sitting in one of these chairs.

After swimming we went out for some dinner and then we were off to go explore the city of Pittsburgh. I had done what I thought to be a lot of research on the city, its attractions, the things that you should do when you go, etc. Apparently my research was not enough because we ended up having a few setbacks, but what is a vacation without those!? Right?! Ok, so we went to Mt. Washington, which has a trolley that goes up it and supposedly was one of the first in America. It was called the Duquesne Incline. So, we paid $4 per person each way to go up and down this thing, thinking that there was going to be a fun fountain and shopping at the top. After we had paid, gotten to the top and looked around, we couldn't find anything like that, so I asked someone if this was all there was to see (which was nothing) and she said that we were at the wrong one (apparently there are 2 of these). The other one is by all of the shopping and the really cool fountain and to make it even worse, it is only $2 roundtrip. AHHH!!! Oh well I guess. Live and Learn!!! At least we got a pretty view of Pittsburgh!! Right?!Here is the incline.Addie enjoying the view from inside the tram.Macie was a little scared at first, but it didn't take her long to warm up. She loved it and was very ahh struck by the whole thing.A family pic at the top!The way back down. This is how steep it was.

So, after this nice ride, we went to where the fountain and shopping were to walk around and see the cool fountain. The fountain is one that has lights and goes to music. It was so fun. Totally worth driving over there to see. Here are a few pics of us enjoying the music and water. This is the fountain! All Macie wanted to do was play in the puddles.Enjoying the water show.Addie and I looking at the water. The girls in a picture booth. Macie just wanted to push the buttons. Addie was all smiles for the camera though. We then went back to our hotel, put the girls to bed, and played some games!!
