Cowtown 5k

Back in December, Macie's school sent home a little note telling us about a 5k that the kids could run in as a school. The race was called the Cowtown 5k and would be held in downtown Fort Worth. We asked her if she would like to run it and she said sure. So we signed her up, paid the $7 fee and didn't think about it. She came home one day in January with a new pair of tennis shoes. She said that the school had won a grant from Sketchers for the race and every kid running the race got a free pair of tennis shoes. They had people come to school and size the kids feet and then would grab a pair of shoes and hand them to the kid. Super cool!!
When February came she was almost ready to race, besides the fact that she hadn't practiced much. The morning of the race came and Geoff her in nice and early. The kids and I showed up right as they were starting the race. We found a spot along the coarse and waited, and waited, and waited some more. Geoff was able to run with her so he was keeping us posted on where they were. About an hour later, they came rounding one of the final corners and we were able to get a shot of them running and cheer them on to the finish. It was a very fun experience for her and she says she can't wait to do it again!!
Macie, with her number before leaving for the race.
Here she is running towards us.
And running past us. We were super blessed that it was an absolutely beautiful day.
